Best Albany suburbs for NBN internet

Milpara tops the ranking, with 57.5% of its NBN premises on full fibre. Bayonet Head and Little Grove round out the top three. These 15 suburbs came from a field of 20 eligible Albany suburbs.

This ranking scores every eligible Albany suburb on NBN connectivity — a single 0-100 score that weights every NBN premises in the suburb by its access technology, so full-fibre (FTTP) suburbs rank above those still on fibre-to-the-node copper, fixed wireless, or satellite.

The connectivity score is a premises-weighted average across each suburb's technology mix: fibre to the premises scores highest, then fibre to the curb, hybrid fibre-coaxial cable, fibre to the building, fibre to the node, fixed wireless, and satellite last. Premises counts and technologies come from NBN Co's public rollout data, joined to each suburb's ABS boundary. Percentile ranks are computed within Albany's candidate pool, so a Albany "top 5%" reflects the best connectivity among Albany suburbs rather than the national field. Actual speeds still depend on the plan a household buys.

How we ranked these

100% NBN connectivity score — every premises in the suburb weighted by its access technology (full fibre > fibre-to-the-curb > cable > fibre-to-the-building > fibre-to-the-node copper > fixed wireless > satellite), percentile-ranked within Albany's candidate pool. Full-fibre share then population break ties. Suburbs with no serviceable NBN premises are excluded rather than ranked at zero. See how we calculate for the full methodology.

Common questions about this ranking

What are the best Albany suburbs for NBN internet?

Milpara tops the ranking, with 57.5% of its NBN premises on full fibre. Bayonet Head and Little Grove round out the top three. These 15 suburbs came from a field of 20 eligible Albany suburbs.

How is the connectivity score calculated?

Every NBN premises in a Albany suburb is weighted by its access technology and averaged into a single 0-100 score. Fibre to the premises (FTTP) scores highest, then fibre to the curb, hybrid fibre-coaxial cable, fibre to the building, fibre to the node, fixed wireless, and satellite last. A suburb that is entirely full fibre scores near 100; one still largely on fibre-to-the-node copper scores much lower. Percentile ranks are computed within Albany's candidate pool, not nationally.

Where does the NBN data come from?

NBN Co publishes the access technology available at every serviceable premises. We use an aggregation of that public rollout data — around 12.6 million premises nationally — and spatial-join each one to its ABS suburb boundary, then keep only the per-suburb rollup (premises count, technology mix, and the score). No individual addresses are stored or shown.

Does a high score guarantee fast internet?

No — the score reflects the network technology available, not the plan a household buys. A full-fibre suburb can deliver gigabit speeds, but a resident on an entry-level plan won't see them. Real-world speed also depends on the retail provider, in-home wiring, and network congestion. The score measures the ceiling the infrastructure allows, which is the part that varies by suburb.

How often is this list updated?

The top 15 is recomputed whenever we refresh the NBN rollout data, which updates weekly at the source. Technology upgrades — such as a fibre-to-the-node area being switched to full fibre — land in the next re-computation.
