Suburb rankings

1,386 ranked lists across 77 topics and every capital city. Some blend several measures into a weighted score, because a pure rental-yield sort returns the cheapest fringe every time; the rest rank on a single published figure. Each list says which, and on what.

The overall ranking

Our Liveability Rating, as a ranked list — the same score behind the A+ to D letter on every suburb page. It is the one ranking here that weighs everything at once instead of answering a single question.

Liveability rankings

Scored rankings built from the same official data as the suburb pages — schools, prices, safety, transport, walkability, growth. Some are weighted composites; the rest rank on one published measure, and each page says which.

Where communities live

Suburbs with the largest share of residents reporting a given ancestry or country of birth at the 2021 Census.

Religion and belief

Suburbs with the largest share of residents reporting a given religion — or none — at the 2021 Census.

Languages spoken at home

A different question from the ancestry lists above, and often a different answer: these rank on the Census language-used-at-home question, so a third-generation family who speak English at home count towards their ancestry list but not this one.
